Not Your Sample Size: Why Fashion Still Isn’t For All Of Us

Let’s be real, Fashion has come a long way, but true inclusivity still feels like a fantasy, una fantasía. From size exclusivity to colorism, many of us have grown up feeling unrepresented and invisible. Especially if you’re fat.

In the latest episode of “Cipota Colocha Says,” I am joined by Heather Reese. She’s an attorney, plus-size model and influencer, breaking the mold. In our conversation, we unpack the painful truth about the fashion industry obsession with narrow beauty standards- and how that erases so many of us from the conversation.

She shares how she began her journey. why the industry insists on keeping us out and the platforms you can use to find beauty your way no matter the size or body type.

During our conversation she said, “I think brands know, businesses know how to profit off of people’s insecurities. And they also know how to make money off your vulnerability. Let’s be honest, is the dream available in store or only online?” I mean wow! Es la verdad no?

Bottom Line: fashion needs a real shift. Representation shouldn’t be a trend- it should be the standard.

If you’re ever felt unseen, too brown, too fat or simply demasiado “extra” this is the episode for you. Know that you are not the problem. They are.
